"Forests are not only sources of community incomes, but also the natural air filter and a habitat of flora and fauna.  Since rapid development of our country, the massive over exploitation and deterioration of natural resources from human being have an effect on the balance of global environment today.

In Thailand, our forest has been continuing to decrease in the past over 3 decades which its consequences have affected to the various aspect of environment including other deterioration of natural resources, as well as economy and communities. Recently, we have experiences disasters for example drought, flooding and landslide.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment have put efforts and raised this issue to the top priority to mitigate and solve these incidents in order to restore the balances to the nature and the quality of life. We realize that all concerned agencies have to work in collaborate to achieve this goal."

Khunying

Dr. Nathanon Thavisin

(Former Permanent Secretary of Bangkok Metropolitan Agency)

"Forests in Thailand have been decreasing rapidly in the past several decades.  Trees are important sources of timber, food, fuel wood, fodder, essential oils, medicines and shade.  Forests are the very source of water, rich soil and oxygen, and the center of ecosystem.  Also, forests absorb a huge amount of carbon dioxide.  It means that tree planting is one of the best ways to prevent climate change, the most serious global issue we are facing now.

The campaign aims to preserve rich forests for future generations and promote public awareness of the importance of tree planting among schools and communities throughout Thailand.  It is our hope that this special tree planting campaign is encouraging both Thai and Japanese people to move in to play an important role together to nurture “Forests for the Future”, in order to protect our precious planet for future generations."
